Welcome to rudeLinux

Welcome to rudeLinux! Here at rudeLinux we present a lightweight and flexible distro for all sorts of Linux users.

rudeLinux is a source based distro with the main focus being speed, lightweighted-ness, and barbones-ism. Distro-specific commands will be some kind of cutesy four-letter word, because here at rudeLinux we're all just a little TOO immature. Also since we are nice, we will include a post install script to tidy things up if you didn't share our boyish sentiment.

Our community will be able to interact with eachother by way of our Forums. Also why not take a look at our Wiki which is growing everyday.

If you're looking for a distro with simple, yet powerful package management and system administration tools, and a flexible system built from source that is easy to install and maintain, you should try rude!

Progress

Posted: Mar 28, 2009 - 08:57 PM

Well I'm just getting over spending a good week sick, going from laying in bed, to work, to laying in bed. Not that this is MUCH different from my normal bumish routine, but I didn't have much energy to work on the fun stuff for a while. I am getting close though, and think I should be able to pop something out in April.

Just in case you're asking yourself, "wtf is this guy doing?", shut up and I'll tell you. I'm finishing up a few required things in fuck, so that MOST installs should go smoothly. Most of my focus right now is setting up a nice development system, which I will also throw onto a live cd as rudelinux 0.0.1. I'll also make the vmware disk available if you want to go that route as well. After that's all done I'm not sure which direction I'm going to head in. Starting on the other tools is the most logical way to go, but I may just save that for someone else to write. My code is in desperate need of cleaning up anyway!

Things are looking up! I've got the new rudelinux.org domain, and about a million subdomains. Thanks to jon's mucho hard work we have a shiny new logo, site, wiki, forum, and he's been doing my laundry and cooking me dinner too! Everyone thank mr. jon! Your check is in the mail, I promise.

Shirts

That's right. The official rudeLinux shirts are here. It's probably a bit more work on my end, but I like to support local business so send me an email with your order and all pertinent information and I will place the order and mail it out. None of that cafepress crap.

Price is 20 bucks, shipping included for one embroidered polo with the rudeLinux logo. I've only seen the logo on a white polo, but we can probably do some other colours if you're one of those fashionable types.

I've got up to ./configure working pretty well. I'm pretty close to being able to work out all my crap coding bugs. On an unrelated note, mantis is installed at http://bugs.rudelinux.org, and the real site is coming along swimingly.
